Happy Birthday William!

My little boy is 5!

This year, William wanted a Scooby-Doo theme. Since it is his off year {that means he doesn't get a huge party} we only invited over a few friends. I found a Scooby and Shaggy picture online, and we made his invitations. Then, he colored them and gave them to his friends.

For his cake, he wanted The Mystery Machine. I had some instructions for a fire engine, so I figured I could just change things up a bit and make a Mystery Machine......easier said than done! After way too many cuts of the cake, and way too much frosting, I was finally done. It only took me three hours...and that didn't include baking the cake - I did that last night. Can you say AHHHHHHH!!!

The only saving grace was that Emily took him to her house to play, and Brooke was asleep for most of it. Plus, I talked to Scott while I frosted, so that helped pass the time.

Here's the cake:

Once William's friends got here, we ate pizza and then had a scavenger hunt. The kids went throughout the house finding clues that Scooby and Shaggy left. The clues led us to..........

William's new bike!

Brooke also joined in on the fun...by sitting on the floor while kids ran around her. Notice the sock and sandal combo. She wanted her sandals on this morning....even though they are too small. Then, this afternoon she brought me her socks and wanted them on. After I put the socks on, she came back with the sandals and informed me {through grunts and screams} that she would now like her sandals back on. Hence, the beautiful ensemble.

The blowing out of the birthday candle.

Silly faces.

William had a great day. He loved talking to everyone on the phone and he felt very special today.
He informed me this evening that "Uncle Scotty will be calling me soon to wish me a Happy Birthday." Luckily Uncle Scott called a few minutes later - without having to be asked.

Happy Birthday, William. I love you!
