Happy Birthday to ME!

As many people already know, last week was my birthday and I turned the big 30! As it was getting close to the big day, Elliott and I realized that he had a Young Men's Activity on my birthday, and he was the YM leader in charge of it all. So, we decided to celebrate the night before.

My friend, Emily, took the kids and we had a wonderful dinner at Cool River. Then, we went to Costco and I got a vacuum for my birthday. Yeah!

The next day, I got many phone calls {thanks everyone} and gifts {even bigger thanks ;-) }, and I basically relaxed the whole day. I thought it was great. However, my husband felt I needed more for my birthday....

On Saturday, when I got home from running the kids to Primary Activities and Birthday parties, Elliott informed me that I needed to spend some time by myself. He gave me some CASH - something we never seem to have - and he told me to go shopping for a few hours and then go pick-up Emily at 5. We were going to have a girl's night out. He didn't have to ask twice....I immediately got ready and took off.

Shopping without kids was great and I got some new clothes. Then, I picked up Emily and we went to dinner. After dinner we did additional shopping - the kind where you just wander around enjoying time without kids.

Then, as I was beginning to think things were wrapping up for the evening, Emily suggested that we go get some dessert at Barnes & Noble. She knows me well. There are two things I can't say "No" to....dessert and books!

We went inside and I was scanning the dessert counter when I heard a noise behind me. I wasn't really paying attention and then suddenly there were arms around me. I turned to see my dear friend, Julie, giving me a hug. She said, "Happy Birthday!"

I told her thanks and asked, "Why are you here?"

"I just came for dessert."

I know I am an idiot, because I was thinking - What a coincidence. Hopefully she can stay and have dessert with us.

I must have looked even stupider because Julie then filled me in. "There are a bunch of us coming to celebrate your birthday!"

Apparently my wonderful husband sent out an Evite {I didn't think he knew how to do that}. He invited all of my friends to meet up for dessert and then a $1 show. The show was Fool's Gold, and as he phrased it in the Evite - we could all go watch "Matthew McConababe with his shirt off."

His Evite got a great response, and many of my friends were able to come - it was because of McConababe!

I can't believe Elliott pulled this off without me knowing. Oh...and his partner in crime, Emily, kept it all a secret as well. Am I really that oblivious? Don't answer that!

Anyway....thank you to everyone that came out to celebrate. It was a great evening....made memorable by Laurel loudly whispering, "Camille! Look! It's McConababe!" During the show.

Thank you, Emily, for helping Elliott to pull this all together... I know he appreciated your help.

And finally, Thank you Elliott! You are a wonderful, thoughtful, kind and loving husband.

I love you!

I'm sorry I am just now posting this more than a week later, but I wanted to say that was a good birthday. I don't ever read blogs that are more than one paragraph but I read this one. Stephanie feels the same way about Matt McConobabe she just wishes she could have been there to gauk at him with the rest of you girls.
