This week my baby sister is competing in the Miss Utah Pageant. She is there representing their county as Miss Sanpete.
There are 50 contestants and they are divided up into three groups. On Monday they all had their interviews. Then each night of the week will be like it's own pageant, with each group participating in different sections of the pageant. Saturday night will be the big finale with the top 10 contestants having the "Traditional" type competition - the kind you see on TV.
Last night was the first night of the Preliminary Competitions. Kayla's group was doing Eveningwear {yes, it's one word}. At the end of the evening, it is announced which contestants won in their groups - Eveningwear, Talent, and Lifestyle & Fitness. These are called the "Preliminary Winners."

Kayla was very particular about choosing an evening gown that was modest and beautiful. She wanted something that she felt represented her and her values. So, way to go Kayla!
We're very proud of her and this wonderful accomplishment. Hopefully tomorrow night goes just as well. She is doing her Talent tomorrow and her Lifestyle & Fitness on Thursday.
