This year for Valentine's Day, Elliott and I decided to stay home and try to have dinner together...just us, no kids. The decision was probably made due to the fact that on Thursdays I teach piano and William has soccer. Plus, babysitters are hard to come by on a school night.
So, Elliott took William to soccer practice, and I stayed home to make a nice dinner for two ....with Brooke holding my leg while screaming, and Aubrey doing her homework at the kitchen table.
Luckily, I was able to ignore the noise and got things put together. Then, when Elliott got home he put Brooke to bed and got the others in their PJs and sent them upstairs to read books.
Ahhhhh, silence.
Now, on to our nice romantic dinner. What did we have to talk about? Nothing....we just enjoyed the quiet.
For dinner we had:
Parmesan Chicken
Lemon Pasta
Caesar Salad
and for Dessert:
Molten Chocolate Cakes
The Molten Chocolate Cakes were amazing. I got the recipe from kraftfoods.com, and I have to say that when I cut into it and the chocolate started oozing out, I got pretty excited. Then, when I took a bite, I was in heaven.
It was nice to have dinner together, and the kids only interrupted it a few times.
What a good day!

What a great idea to stay in for dinner at home. Ben recently made the molten cakes. I'll have to check out that recipe. They're a ton of work, aren't they? But so yummy. I would love your lemon pasta recipe, if you have a minute. Also, I just found out that Bethany Flake (a friend in our book club) is one of your friend's. Small world!
Such a great idea. The lemon pasta sounds yummy. I may need to get that recipe from you.
At least we all had conversation at the Valentine's dinner put on at the church. Glad you had a nice quiet dinner the next day. :)
Sounds Tasty! I think you are going to have to add a recipe of the month to your blog!
First of all--we totally miss the Texas weather! Maybe not the summers, but the winters are wonderful. Second, William's birthday was awesome. What an adorable cake. Why do we make things so complicated? I'm trying to get a caterpillar cake ready for Mitchell's party tomorrow. Finally, you had the right idea staying home. I tried to talk Chad into making ME dinner, but his cooking skills are very limited. I'm going to try your chocolate cakes.
I love that idea to stay home and relax! chocolate molten yumness...yes please!
Okay, so you're going to have to e-mail me the recipe's for the chicken and the lemon pasta. They sound delicious.

Thank you.
I'll have to try the whole dinner at home thing. Ever since we've had children we've always just gone to eat with them on Valentine's Day. Staying home sounds way more relaxing!
